Help with product sizing, product care and getting started with your weighted vest.
WHAT SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE?
HOW MUCH WEIGHT SHOULD I CARRY?
It depends....
This information is provided for general informational purposes only and is not intended as health or fitness advice. Please consult a qualified professional before making health or fitness decisions.
Firstly when trying on the vest for size we recommend filling most if not all of the pockets with the weights - the vest feels and wears completely differently when empty so you do need to try it on initially with most of the weights inserted.
WEIGHTED WALKS
For weighted walks how much weight you carry entirely depends on how long you plan to walk for, whether there are hills on your walks, how much walking you currently do and what experience you have had walking with a weighted vest or backpack.
You can build up the weight over time so your body adapts and gets stronger.
Try starting with 2 weights in the front and 2 or 3 weights in the back pockets and try a walk. If that feels easy to you add a bit more weight for your next walk or keep the same weight but go for a longer walk.
Over the course of the next weeks and months you can add more weights gradually, add a longer duration to your walk, add inclines to your walk by walking up and down hill, or any combination of the above.
These principles can be applied to walking wearing the vest on the treadmill too.
Always place the weights in a way that there is balance right and left of your body.
Experiment and over time you will likely find a combination that feels most comfortable for you.
WORKOUTS
Our vest can be worn during bodyweight workouts with the added benefit it leaves your hands free to carry dumbbells or kettlebells. If you have wrist issues wearing our weighted vest adds resistance but keeps the hands and wrists stress free.
You can choose to add or subtract weight depending on the exercise chosen. Compound lower body movements like squats and lunges you may choose to carry more weight than say push ups or pull ups.
We do not recommend lying down in the vest, nor participating in activities or team sports where there is a risk of falling.
HEALTH CONDITIONS
For osteoporosis or compressed discs we cannot advise if wearing a weighted vest is suitable, please consult with your healthcare professional before considering purchasing.
WHAT should I WEAR UNDERNEATH THE VEST?
We recommend wearing just a thin layer - either just a bra top, a thin base layer or a vest top.
Not only will this help the vest fit better but it will enable you to wear the vest year round - in winter we recommend adding layers on top.
CAN I WASH THE VEST?
Where possible spot clean the garment first.
To wash the vest firstly remove all weights.
Zip up the vest completely so the zip sits underneath the triangular chin guard at the top.
Wash separately; place in the washing machine drum without any other garments. Use a protective laundry bag if you have.
Wash only on a short 30 degree delicates cycle
Dry Flat
Do not tumble dry, do not iron, do not use fabric conditioner, do not dry clean, do not bleach.
Please store the garment flat.
Do you have other garment colours?
Currently we only offer deep navy/black trim but we have plans to expand on the colour range in the future.
